MemCheck  Answers

1. How many people are affected by memory loss?

Some groups claim that over 50% of Americans are concerned with memory loss based on survey data.  Around the world, those affected with memory loss and those at risk number in the hundreds of millions. For some countries, the data is incomplete.

2. Why MemCheck? Can it improve my memory?

Our tests have been shown to be highly sensitive to changes in cognitive performance, corroborating with MRI results (expensive). It is more sensitive than paper and pencil measures that are still used to make formal diagnoses.  There is some evidence that you can improve performance by mental exercise in the leading journals, particularly if you also involve sustained physical exercise, plenty of reports from users and 3rd party reviewers of MemCheck claim improvement.

3.  I took the free test, now what?

You receive either a brief assessment (immediate result)  or with a paid subscription you can track yourself over time and receive reminders from Cognitive Labs.  Paid subscriptions are very inexpensive, averaging just 9 cents per day.  As a Wired magazine ad said, this is less than a newspaper or coffee.

4.  After taking the free test, I decided to join. What do I do?

Register before any of our tests or on the main home page to open you free account.  Enter your email address and select the test you have chosen. To track yourself over time or buy this service for a loved one, order here through our secure, global ordering process.  We accept credit cards, bank wires, checks, and purchase orders.

5.  I cannot log-on to take the test again after I registered. What's This?

We now offer unlimited testing so long as you register. With premium service, available for about 9 cents per day, you receive reports from us on your activity, which tells you how you compare against yourself over time and also others in our database, which is a relational repository of global cognitive information.

6.  Does your service work on a Mac/Linux/Unix?

Yes, our service currently works on the Mac, Linux, and Unix platforms and some mobile devices, games and tests operate on the most common web browsers and Web TV.

7. How many people can use my account?

One person (the account holder) may use the account. Additional  users must register individually.

8. How was it developed?

By neuroscientists and computer scientists over several years backed by a significant financial investment, numerous academic and industry studies. A simple realization has been most effective in driving our growth:  track your shipment (like UPS and FedEx) = track your brain. Since we did the former on a large-scale, we know how to do the latter.  Technology and bandwidth now makes this possible.

9.  How often should I take a test and exercise my mind?

You should check yourself fairly frequently. (Once a month or more often is a good guideline). If you are not at risk, every quarter. Exercises and Games can be played daily.  Tracking yourself over time is particularly valuable. Many people have reported back to us with the results of continuing testing and monitoring.

10.  I want to tell friends about MemCheck. How can I?

Use our tell-a-friend email feature on cognitivelabs.com or after your test on cognitivecare.com, purchase a gift subscription for them, or send them a link!

11.   My friend signed up for MemCheck. I told them. What do I get?

We'll send you $10 for every friend that subscribes to our paid service

12.  Should I see my doctor if I have a memory concern?

You should - physicians can make the diagnosis and prescribe medication to treat the symptoms. Like a scale when you are dieting, Cognitive Labs provides an objective measure of your cognitive status. We can direct you to other advocacy groups that help people and caregivers.

13. I understand genetic factors play a large role in memory loss and Alzheimer's. How can Cognitive Labs help me in that area?

Our technology has been shown sensitive to detecting memory loss in people with no overt symptoms. An individual may decide to seek a referral after reviewing his or her performance.

14.  Your service and candid reporting has changed our lives and given us hope. How can we invest in the company or support it?

Cognitive Labs is a private company and not traded on any exchange. Individuals have generously funded cognitive labs. The company is currently experiencing rapid growth.

15.  Are you hiring, can I work with you or collaborate?

Yes, please see our current needs page or Affiliate page. Please refer to  the news and info page for more contacts. Evangelism is a good thing.   We have executed several clinical trials since our technology is effective at dispersed, objective data collection.  For advisors, who actively contribute, we have sought people of high integrity, high achievement, and intelligence.

16. My spouse has severe Alzheimer's. Can your test help?

Generally, our tests and program are not effective at this stage. Our entire focus is on monitoring and memory management so that this outcome (severe Alzheimer's)  becomes less likely for people around the world.

17. What kinds of services will you offer in the future?

MemCheck is Act One. Watch for jobs, communities, and services that are impossible today that will be normal in a few years.

18. Who has signed up for cognitive labs?

People of all age groups, many people who like games, many baby boomers, many so-called 'seniors.' We have found that 'seniors' don't consider themselves as 'seniors' but as people with lots to contribute, and have the same interests as anyone of any age.

19.  I want to offer memcheck on my site/blog.

Consult our Affiliate page for more information.  Affiliates can earn while spreading the word!  Bloggers earn $ for every referral they give us.

20.  I have a business idea or proposal for your company.

Please send proposals to busdev@cognitivelabs.com or fax to us in Mountain View at (650) 887-2174. Due to the amount of requests we receive, we may not be able to respond on a timely basis. We try to answer all inquiries.
