Casuality - Future of Casual Games

Electronic Arts creative honcho opines on the future of casual games at the Casuality conference in Seattle.

He picks up on an interesting theme which we even have talked about here, that is, putting casual games inside other games such as multiplayers and virtual worlds.

You will also be able to buy MP3 songs from inside games, for example, in Prey, the jukebox plays "Don't Fear the Reaper" - being able to link to iTunes and buy it is a small step

Teaching Your Robot to Play a Game

Gamers to teach Aibo robots to play games?
It may be possible soon, if these actions continue...

Robot dogs learn to speak

Researchers in France and Italy are teaching their Sony Aibo robot dogs to talk to each other.

The project, undertaken by the Institute of Cognitive Science and Technology and written about in the Online Engineer, claims that the Aibos are not only identifying objects and directions but also creating their own lingo to describe things.

Some see this as a major breakthrough in artificial intelligence.

One scientist said: "The technology could lead to robots being able to carry out rescue operations by swarming over inaccessible areas to find people."

Prey World Premiere RT Test

The previews to the long-awaited game Prey will be available at midnight tonight (June 22,2006). Prey was a big part of E3 in both 2005 and 2006, that's how high the level of anticipation is, far greater than Heinz ketchup. For now, test your ability to react using some of the pix from the game.

How fast are you?

If you haven't seen a picture yet, don't press the space bar.

If you have seen it, press it as fast as you can.

Pure brainspeed.

An actual measure of your brain and body's electromechanical efficiency, vectored by the speed of your processor.

Have fun and get ready for the real thing.

Memorypix site paste-code bug, blogger,myspace

We just fixed a minor bug in memorypix paste-in code that you can use to add a memorypix to your site. We tried it in blogger and of course it does not work in your post but must be inserted somewhere on your template. For myspace, it works fine and should work on livejournal and other blog software solutions or in most CMS systems. We want people to have a seamless experience of adding it to their site. We also removed the registration system that was embedded with the code and will keep that on cognitivelabs.com

FIFA World Cup Brain Action!

The FIFA World Cup looms large in June and the competition is starting all around the world. It's a time when businesses empty and everybody heads to the local cafe or bar to watch the match.

In Egypt, I happened to be in the Middle Egyptian town of El-Minya during the World Cup and the national team was playing Iraq. All eyes were crowded into the cafes and hotels, watching TV's, with fans blowing back and forth to ease the 110 degree heat. The action went back and forth, with nobody scoring for the longest time.

The real excitement happens when the South American or Middle Eastern teams take on the European teams; the players have returned from their club teams like Manchester United to play for their home or adopted country....

We're going to play along with the action at cognitivelabs.com and create some country competition.
